The Palacio de los Acevedo is a site steeped in history, accommodations for those seeking something truly special: a 17th-century historic/artistic complex reopening its doors to the public in 2022, converted into a Manor House/Palace.
The Palacio de los Acevedo offers you the luxury of staying at one of the most emblematic buildings in the Merindad de Trasmiero region. Thanks to its ideal location and beautiful gardens, it constitutes an exceptional site for weddings, banquets and events of all kinds.
The Palacio de los Acevedo's 15 rooms perfectly fuse tradition and modernity. In each one, tradition, comfort and the latest design are harmoniously blended, and the idyllic Baroque gardens glimpsed through the window place the finishing touch on your stay in our rooms.
The Palacio de los Acevedo is a palatial building located in the town of Cántabra de Hoznayo, ordered built circa 1620 by Fernando González de Acevedo.
Designed by the architect Juan de Naveda, the Palacio de los Acevedo is a Baroque palace built at the behest of Fernando González de Acevedo, Philip III's chaplain, Archbishop of Burgos, Patriarch of the Indies, Inquisitor General, President of the Council of Castile, and the Council of State under Philip II, III and IV.
The façade features a central, two-floor structure divided into three sections by pilasters, and with two lateral towers at the ends. The door is lintelled and features an overhanging balcony in the center, windows on the sides and, on the towers, paired pilasters, windows and coats-of-arms. In the back of the main building, and attached to it, we find the tower, with four circular buttresses and a rounded doorway bearing the family motto: Arbor bona, bonos fructus fecit.
In addition to the elements mentioned, the palace's structure is rounded out by a beautiful chapel, also in the Herrerian style, including a vaulted Latin cross layout. It was declared a Site of Cultural Interest in February of 1979.
On the ground floor of the building one can savor the Palacio de los Acevedos' gastronomic offerings. A gastrobar, open to both Palace customers and the general public, boasts a menu listing the best in local culinary products: high-quality meats, river fish, tasty cheeses...
A place embracing a genuine love for fine ingredients, and where Cantabrian sobaos, quesadas and sweets prepared by our Los Pasiegos de Diego bakery are also highlights.
